Camphor Oil
Camphor oil is extracted from the Cinnamomum Camphora. It belongs to Lauraceae family. The camphor tree grows up to 35 meters in height and contains rich material in every part of the tree. Camphor oil is mostly used in lungs infection and nervous depression. It provides some distinctive skin benefits when used carefully. It is of brown and yellow color. Camphor oil comfortably blends with basil, cajuput, chamomile, lavender, and Melissa. It is not used in aromatherapy because of its toxic properties. Only the white camphor oil is known to have safe effects.

History: | The word camphor is derived from the French word camphre. During 13th century, it was used in recipes in Muslim world. Camphor tree was originated from Taiwan, China and Japan and has a very long life. The tree must be at least 50 years old to produce oil. In Persia, it is used to treat plague. Chinese used it to manufacture ships and temples. |
Precautions: | Since camphor oil is toxic, it shouldn't be used in aromatherapy massage. |
