Cinnamomum zeylanicum was originated from an island in Asia named Sri Lanka. The Island was formerly known as Ceylon. Cinnamon is a tropical evergreen tree that belongs to the Laurel family. It grows up to an average height of 15 meters. It has very smooth thin bark that is yellowish brown in color. It has highly fragrant odor. Cinnamon Bark essential oil is extracted by steam distillation method of this bark.

Application: Cinnamon Bark essential oil has antiseptic and antimicrobial properties. It is also used to treat diarrhea and other digestive system problems. Due to its pleasant odor, Cinnamon bark essential oil is also used in cream, lotions, and soap.

Blends Well With: Frankincense, Lavender, Cedarwood, Elemi, Citrus Oils, Ylang-ylang and other floral notes.
Aromatic Scent: Warm, spicy scent that is somewhere between clove and cinnamon.
History: Cinnamon is native to the Indian subcontinent. However, Portuguese traders finally discovered Sri Lanka, i.e. a small island in south-east India at the end of 15th century and then restructured the production of cinnamon by a Sri Lankan caste, salagama.
Precautions: Cinnamon Bark essential oil can be irritating to the skin if applied in large doses. It should always be used in dilution. Avoid use during pregnancy.
